The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) is a UK organisation with a mission to enrich society through ideas and action. Supported by 28,000 Fellows, the RSA has been at the forefront of social change for over 260 years. With a focus on three key themes of Public Services & Communities, Creative Learning & Development and Economy, enterprise & manufacturing the organisation makes a significant impact in society through thought leadership and projects to action leading edge thinking.

At the heart of this membership organisation is a Salesforce system that manages the processes of attracting new Fellows then maintaining contact and communication with existing Fellows. Through integration to payment gateways Salesforce collects subscriptions from the Fellowship which are crucial to support delivery of RSA services. In 2016 the RSA embarked on a project to improve their Salesforce instance to take advantage of new functionality, delivering better service to the Fellowship.

Part of the project requirement was data extraction, transformation and migration into the new system. As many parts of the Salesforce solution were changing, the member data required transformation to drive the benefits of the new system. Commerceworks worked with the internal RSA team to understand the nature of the existing data then apply transformation scripts allowing the data to be migrated correctly into the new system.

Throughout and after the project, Commerceworks also provided technical project management, testing and ongoing support to ensure Salesforce continues to successfully support the operations of the RSA.
